t Smisje BBBourgondier 12° - 33cl
Ref: BB28055Z
A dark and heavy ale - the strongest that the brewery has ever produced - in which three varieties of malt and two spices are utilised. It is brewed "in honour of" the Burgundian Babble Belt, a well known web-site on the Internet, where beer lovers can exchange all sorts of information.Poured a cloudy dark brown with no head at all. Sweet aroma of dried apples and some spice that carries into the flavor. Sweet taste with alcohol well hidden. As the beer warmed the alcohol became more noticable but still balanced. Also a little bitter. This bottle was almost totally flat. According to ratings looks like it shouldnt be.

Cloudy dark red-brown coloured, small but lasting head. Lots of yeast (most of which i kept inside the bottle). Fantastic aroma, malts, coffee, chocolate, wood, some Madeira indeed. Thick mouthfeel, sweet, malty, alcoholic and even some cheese. Remarkably the flavour doesn't really improve when the beer warms up. Lasting bittersweet finish, dry and some alcohol. Overall a bit like an aged (2 or 3 year old) Chimay Bleu. Fantastic brew.

Plump honey and powerful spices in the aroma with a light vinous zing...That honey disappears though in the palate, buried under a cohesive heap of flower petals, orange zest and yeast...Sweet peachy malt in ample quantities makes for a hugely satisfying body and fruity acidity rushes up the palate but finishes sadly too fast...Herbal bitterness remains herald an interesting moment well-spent in yet another wild De Regenboog creation..

Pours a cloudy, pale golden color with a fizzy white head that rapidly dissipates. The aroma is mostly malty. Medium body with medium carbonation, the flavor is malty and nutty, the finish is sweet and a little cloying. This is similar to some of the American tripels, such as Avery's and weyerbacher's, Very nice.

Terracotta 7° - 33cl
Ref: BB28052Z
Artisanal beer from...De Regenboog brewery
A blond summer ale whose name refers to the use of elderflowers in its production - the flowers are always planted in little terracotta pots. Although, it could also refer to our infamous concert hall in Bruges: the terracotta roof tiles are always falling off that... The beer has a fruity blossomy fragrance and a slightly acidic cider-like component to the taste.

Dark amber color; giant creamy head. Very nice malty aroma, with notes of liquorice, vanilla, lemon, roasted malt. Really balanced, with good malt, roasted malt, light liquorice, caramel, good hops. Long final. Excellent!
Strong caramel and slightly sour aroma. Very rich in flavor. Toffee and sweetness dominate the flavor to start moving to a slightly tangy bitterness and finishing mildly to moderately bitter with a component of roastedness. Despite the greater than average upfront sweetness, this beer finishes cleanly for the most part.

A somewhat hazy orange on the pour, the head mountainous and light tan in color, frothy and after decomposing the lace forms a delicate sheet upon the glass. Malt is dominate in the lightly sweet nose, a tad plum like, but a pleasant beer to sniff, and the start sweet and malt laden, the top middling in feel. Finish is quite acidic but not unpleasant, the hops perfect in their spiciness, droughty long lasting aftertaste with a bit of belly warming to boot, drinkable and I think a fine beer have a couple of after a fine dinner.
This is the original beer from Ecaussinnes. 7% alcohol. It is spiced, but you don't really taste the spices. Nice amber color, lightly caramelised with a light bitter taste at the end. A very nice beer, recommended by Michael Jackson.

The flavor is very sweet berries combined with dry wood and metal. The flavor is a little too sweet - but besides that, this is a really good beer.

It is uniquely its amber colored appearance that makes this beer look somewhat old-fashioned. This beer is in fact rather young and refreshing, whish gives it a fruity aroma. It is light in palate with no acridity.
Gold with an excellent fluffy white head and good condition. Good perfumed hoppines and delicate suggestion of spices in the aroma but as it warms some starchiness develops. Full bodied and chalky in the mouth with some hefty maltiness and a delicate spiced and perfumed edge. A nicely developing yeastiness tries to steer it towards witbier territory but it wants to be a Duvel and tries hard to stick to the plan. Malty finish that dries out quite quickly leaving some yeast and hop notes lingering.

Steamed and charged out of the bottle in a flood of froth and fizz. The result was something that looked more like Duvel than Hoegaarden - but darker than both. The aroma was of wheat and heavy yeast. The taste lacked the tartness and volume of coriander to be a true witbier. What was there instead was a wonderful quaffable golden ale that is lively on in the glass and on the tongue.

Aromatic Saazer and Spalter hops are added, but to no further extent than to give it a bitterness equal to a pilsener which gives more room to the beers sweetness. The beer is fermented with Du Bocqs original yeast strain which is responsible for the delicate, spicy expression. After maturation and filtration the beer has a secondary fermentation in the bottle which causes its slight cloudiness.

Great tripel! Big yeasty nose, hazy pale khaki color, and a foamy, sticky head. Sweet orange and corriander tastes with a brief hop finish. Sugary at times in the middle. Full body, complex and spicy.

Dark amber golden color. The aroma is spicy and fruity. Maybe it was the smoke in the air, but I sensed a hint of smoke in an else complex taste. Else this beer is round and with a nice finish.
Wostyntje 7° - 33cl

This beer with Torhouts' mustard has been craft brewed with top-fermentation at Brewery De Regenboog. Ingredients are malts, hop, candi sugar, mustard seed, yeast and water.
Creamy orange color with hints of red w/ minimal head. Peach, lime nose with creaminess...Very Floral. Creamy lime, peach with light roasted flavors. Lingering bite in the mid palate. Some sparkle, lots of flesh fruit, acidity, some spice, slight herbal quality. Nice malt, wheat, orange with a long light hop like finish.

Like any good saison this one pours with a giant head. The body on this brew is deceptively wit-like. Very thin but at the same time cloudy looking. The nose is incredibly spicy. The saaz in this one is off the chain. Its like a Saaz IPA. Redonkadonk. Nose has hints of SAAZ, lemon, coriander and a faint saltiness. The flavor really reflects all of these in mass quantity. Quite quenching but very bitter. Almost too bitter. Salty and brine like with a floral sweetness from the hops. Excellent brew!

Bière des Moules
A very attractive alternative to the classic Pils. The Yersekes Mosselbier offers more color and more taste. First you taste the bitterness of the hops, immediately followed by a light sweetness of the roasted malt. The dark amber color in a special flute glass is an enrichment for the table.

Dirty brown color with almost no head. Fruity, berryish aroma (banana, lemon, orange). Fruity, slightly bananaeish flavor with wineous hints. Medium-bodied, slicky, slightly alcoholic palate. Not exactly the most intriguing Belgian.
