Ramée Amber 7.5°-33cl

Ramée Amber 7.5°-33cl
Ref: BB28009

The amber colour is the result of brewing a pure variety of two-row spring malt, the addition of roasted wheat along with a careful selection of spices in its recipe. La Ramée is a non-filtered high fermentation beer, re-fermented in the bottle, exceptionally easily to digest, with a slightly peppery flavour. In order to enjoy the fullness of its flavour, we advise you to savour it at a temperature of between 7° and 10°C.

This abbey beer has a beautiful straw colour and a fine, delicate, white head. Its aroma is fruity with a slight flavour of hops ... It is a slightly bitter, pleasantly sweet, mellow beer. It is developed from pale malt fine German hops and it is aromatised. with liquorice, sweet orange and coriander. When it is undergoing secondary fermentation in the bottle, sugar and yeast are added just before packaging so as to reach its saturation in the boule. A dark brown abbey beer with a beautiful, fine and steady head and a delicate sparkle. Its distinctive and pleasant aroma of dark malt gives it a fruity smell and its colouring comes exclusively from the malt. Its taste is typical of the three special malts used and leaves a very pleasant, slightly bitter aftertaste. It is aromatised in the brewing room with three natural aromatics. It is best appreciated between 8° and 12° and goes perfectly well with red meats, highly seasoned dishes and mild cheeses.

St Bernardus Abt 12°-1/3L
Ref: BB20006

This represents the top of the range in the Saint-Bernadus portfolio of beers and it has undoubtedly the highest alcohol content too ( 10.4%). It is also the beer that is closest in taste and distinctive characteristics to its Trappist beers. It has a good deal of character and is well rounded, which at the forefront an impression of smoothness which rapidly creates a rapport between its taste and your palate. Its strong volume of alcohol does not diminish its flavor, which truly remains amongst the best in this category.
This beer poured a dark amber color and formed an off white sudsy head that left circular lace. A good deal of carbonation was present. It had an aroma of malt, caramel and fruit. A flavor of malt, caramel and spicy fruit. A very strong flavor element and finish going on with this beer. A very impressive beer.

St Bernardus Pater 6°-1/3L

St Bernardus Pater 6°-1/3L
Ref: BB20008

Its name has become a reference. Very often, it is described or ordered by its " first name". Although its volume of alcohol is 7.1%, it is light in taste with a very slight fruity aftertaste, which is just enough to remind drinkers that it is a beer brewed in West Flanders. It should also be pointed out that the Saint-Bernadus brewery uses local hops.
Hazy dark brown colour. Huge iridescent head of cumulus cloud consistency. Yeasty aroma with liquorice and burnt rubber. Plums and berries coming through as oxidation occurs. Malt flavours with a slight fruit sweetness and a quite hint of cocoa. Medium body, but getting a little watery toward the finish. No detectable aftertaste, strangely unexpected. Softly astringent with hints of tobacco and a peppery spiciness from the hops.

Ref: BB20007

Cast in the same mold as the Pater, the Prior 8, which has a higher volume of alcohol ( 8.3%), is a more noble and distinctive beer. Its aromatic flavor brings to mind the Trappist beer of Saint-Sixtus. What makes it stand out are primarily its qualities as an aperitif
Pours a color that is both dark ruby, brown and orange. The persistent head is tan/off-white. The aroma is both fruity and yeasty, and is made up of cherries, plums, bread, honey, and currant. The flavors are quite nice, most of the fruit is evident, as is a bit of toffee and chocolate. A nice feel in the mouth and a moderate finish.

St Bernardus Triple 7°-1/3L
Ref: BB20005Z

Neither pale colored, not too strong in alcoholic content ( 7%), this triple Saint-Bernadus is decidely less aggressive in its taste than other beers in the same category. Nevertheless its aroma is very present, and its mellow flavor is subtly reinforced by a discreet bitterness, which strikes a balance between malt and hops, with a fruity taste. To a certain extent it corresponds to the wish expressed by the brewers of Saint-Bernadus to produce a beer likely to please women.
Deep golden-orange in color, huge foamy head that sticks around forever, spicy yeasty aroma of cotton candy. Sweet fruity flavors like banana bread, full body with a soft and creamy mouthfeel, has a sticky candy sweet finish, alcohol very well hidden, a great tripple.

Murky reddish-brown color, the head minute in size, clumpy in texture, the color light tan and what little lace there is forms a patchy sheet upon the glass. The aroma of over ripe plums, malt, sweet caramel, pleasant enough with a cloyingly sweet malt laden start, top middling in feel. Mildly acidic, the hops personable in their spicy presence, droughty aftertaste, drinkable, but tends to be a bit to sweet for my palate.

With its low volume of alcohol of 6%, this is one of the weakest abbey beers. What emerges is a beer with relatively little dimension. Its taste is really very soft against a fruity background. It reveals very little depth in character, and does not develop at all in the mouth. Only a slight bitterness makes up for the thinness of the aftertaste.
Aroma is peppery with pineapple. Appearance is cloudy darker than gold blonde. Fairly large head that didn't last with some lacing. Sweet pineapple flavours that quickly give way to hop bitterness. Fairly thin though medium carbonation which works well.

Though the Blonde should have shown more character, it is the Brune that reveals the veritable character of the Saint Idesbald. This is a great triple! Cork shot out of the bottle before I got the wire cap off! In the small village of Meer, north of the city of Antwerp, there used to be an abbey which was famous for its beer named St. Paul. During the French Revolution, the abbey was destroyed and so it was said-one father named Paul, rescued the secret recipes to brew the abbey beer and trust them onto the local Sterkens family, at that time a renowned brewer family. The Sterkens family had been brewing beer since 1654, and their St. Paul abbey beer is still brewed today, respectfully according to the centuries old tradition.
Hazy deep amber color; beautiful lace. Nice aroma of malt and caramel and roasted grains, well mixed. Dry malt taste, roasted (Scottish Ale), not enough body. Average palate, with some roasted malt and caramel, missing a sharper bitterness.

A top-fermenting golden strong beer of 7.6% ABV, that is very firm-bodied, fruity-dry and assertive. It has a fine hop-aroma (dry-hopping is used) and a splendid apertif bitterness in palate and finish.
The initial impression is that the Triple, which is brewed alongside the Double, seems to have less character than the latter. Its ingredients ( pale malt and hops) appear however more limpid in the mouth.
It can be drunk cool or at a moderate temperature depending upon individual preferences.

This triple, which is naturally the strongest from the point of view of its volume of alcohol (8%), is both appetizing at the outset, and provides a total contrast with the basic characteristics of the Double. Its equally rich head does not succeed in hiding its alluring and charmingly intoxicating aroma. It is equally successful as a thirst-quencher, but is less effective as a digestive.

Originaly inspired by a monastic recipe from the abbey of the same name, which as already produce a pale and a brown ale.
Abbey triple pale ale, unfiltered and unpasteurised, brewed by a layman in the right wing of the abbey.
Its a full bodied taste is progressive but never excessive. A slightly sugared flavour in the middle of the mounth - a perfect combination of alcohol, bitterness and sweetness. Finally accentuates an aromatic and alcohol bitterness. Excellent and highly digestible, particulary when accompagning a good meal.
Head : Nice white head, not too oily because of its high alcohol content.

The flavor is just as parallel with the usual flavors that one should expect, but then there is good mix of sweetness that’s the real pay dirt. There is a little bit of purple grapes in the flavor.
