Karmeliet Tripel 8°-1/3L
Ref: BB20706
Blond, robust, smooth, and fruity three grain top fermented beer, refermented in the bottle. Brewed with pride and patience after Karmeliet tradition with wheat, oat and barley. 100% natural.
Pours a sharp golden orange with strong effervescence and a beautiful fluffy white head. The lace is fine, smooth, yet sticks to the glass. The aroma is fruity, of bubble gum, hints of spices, fresh and full. The taste is smooth and sweet with a well-balanced dry finish. The MF is smooth and soft with a wonderful transition from sweet to dry. IMHO: A well balanced triple with no big surprises, and is subtly complex. Karmeliet has a great combination of flavors and smooth transitions.

Karmeliet Triple 8°-1L5
Ref: BB20707
Hazy gold color, fine white head, and fortunately poured into its own particularly shaped glass. Aroma is uplifting, arousing, sensual, jumping with fruitiness, peaches, tangerines, apricots, citrus, lemon, alive with bright, sunny flavors, and a joyful honey/candy sweetness. Absolute happiness results from a mere sip of this glorious brew, growing with each new drip down the lips! Yeast, also, does some work towards delivering the drinker to Beer Nirvana, creating a warm, bready feeling. Body is somewhat light and buoyant, palate is delicate and delicious. Soft, sweet malt, long and lingering, rewarding finish, always accompanied by a tidy, tasteful dance of hops upon the tongue.

A very strong and rich beer from the same brewery that produces Brigand. A deep dark ale, with very malty aroma and a sweetish palate. Definitely an after dinner drink!
Pours with a lovely cola colored brown with a mocha colored thick head and excellent lacing - going to have a tough time cleaning the glass tomorrow morning! Aroma has some sweet accents of baked brown bread, raisins and sugar. Flavor has many of the same notes with some cinamony-chocolate making a late appearance. Candy sugar flavor is prominent and makes this very enticing and hides the ABV of 11% oh so well. Good, thick mouthfeel, low carbonation - feels just right. All around an excellent Belgian.

Dark mahoghany coloured with a pretty head on top. Has a very sweet aroma. Some spices notabel. In the flavour there is almonds and sweetness. The alcahol is totally hidden. Lives a good life on the palate. Had this served with a starter (spiced duck and chutney), and this was a perfect match.

Ref: BB20294
This is a live beer, and since secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle, there is a relatively high amount of carbonation. This is also a beer style that will cellar well (if stored at appropriate temperatures) and it will actually improve with age. The incredible fact about this beer is that it has a 15 year shelf life! (Forget those 'born on' dates!) This is a big beer -- 11% ABV is a big number -- but the alcohol is not so overwhelming. This beer is actually quite easy to drink. Dare I say it? It can even be guzzled. The nose has a honey-malt sweetness. The palate is malty, sweet, filled with butterscotch and complex hop flavors, mellowed by a nutty, vanilla edge.

Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Medium to full body, dry and creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Blond beer with a small head. The aroma dominating herbal. The taste is light bitter. It is a very typical triple tasting beer but well balanced.
Peach-coloured, ochre head reducing itself to a half centimetre. Herbal, spicey (ginger, laurel, garden weeds) nose. Taste: this is what you call Band-aid? It certainly has a flavour as from a would liner - mint/camphor perhaps. Having said that, this taste is quite mild. Rest is more typical tripel. Dry-touch of candi sugar, and yeasty. Ending a bit more fruity/citrussy. Well bodied. Reasonable tripel. More surprising than most.

Flip top bottle poured a nice fluffy white head with a golden color. There is a pear taste present followed by a bitter dry aftertaste. Not as hoppy as you would expect for a beer with this name, but very good regardless. Les 3 Fourquets Lupulus 8.5° - 3/4L
Ref: BB40262Z
Lupulus is a blonde ale with an alcohol proof of 8,5 %, refermented in champagne bottles and in casks. The choice not to filter the beer, as well as not to pasteurize it ensures its taste and aromatic quality. The use of hops in considerable quantities, in the cauldron as well as in full fermentation, gives this liquid gold a freshness and an incomparable bouquet. Store this beer, as it ought to be, next to your beloved Grand-Cru and serve at a temperature between 8 and 12°C (46,4 and 53,6°F). You'll be delighted !
Leute Bokbier 7.5°-1/3L
Ref: BB28164Z
Leute Bok ale is a dark red heavy beer, top fermented and refermented in the bottle. The aroma and taste is unique and striking, not too sweet, but full and smooth on the tongue.
Leute Bokbier was first brewed by brewery Van Steenberge in 1927. In Flemish, 'Leute' means pleasure, and beer brings pleasure. The goat and the hops in the logo refer to the presence of goats on the then brewery-farm, with its adjacent hops fields. Unfor-tunately, along with the disappearance of the agricultural activities on the farm, the Leute Bokbier also disappeared. However, Leute Bokbier reappeared on the scene in 1997, exactly 70 years later. All the good of the past and the knowledge of the present are united in a unique beer.
Leute Bokbier is primarily noted because of the special tumbler with a wooden stand. After enjoying a few Leuteboks, it can sometimes become more challenging to aim the glass in the stand!

Loterbol Blond 8° - 1/3L
Ref: BB28268P
Loterbol is a crisp blonde ale that is very tasty and mightily satisfying. It drinks much stronger than its 6.8% alcohol by volume would suggest, and tastes a little spicy, though no spices are used in the brewing. The exotic palate of this beer comes from the unique strain of yeast. Duysters Brewery flourishes in the shadow of one of the worlds largest breweries, Interbrew, in the nearby town of Leuven. But there is no mistaking this exquisite hand-crafted brew for the mass-product of the nearby beer factory. Loterbol is a Flemish word for a fool or prankster, an allusion to the deceptive smoothness and drinkability of this beer. Selected as one of the fifty best beers in the world by Men's Journal magazine, July 2005.

A darker, slightly sweeter beer than its blond counterpart, Loterbol Bruin is a delicious strong Belgian ale, brewed in tiny batches at Belgium's smallest brewery. Highly drinkable, even at 8% alcohol, this beer lives up to its name, which translates roughly to 'prankster.' Unlike most Belgian beers of this strength, Loterbol Bruin is not loaded with candi sugar. It does not want for malty sweetness, but it is superbly balanced with enough hops to stand up to the high alcohol. A remarkable brew, if a difficult one to find . . . we bring in only about 60 cases a year.

A Belgian golden ale. On the nose it is lightly hoppy and yeastily spicy, with faint caramelly malt notes and a touch of citrusy and estery fruit. There is a warming, malty, vanilla quality to it, which develops into an alcohol kick towards the end. Secondary fermentation in the bottle.
Good Ale. Nice balance of spice, fruit and hop flavor. Finishes with a nice clean crisp bitter taste.

Ref: BB28194P
Called "Black Chocolate" in the U.S.
Malheur DARK Brut Reserve, in a 75cl bottle with champagne cork and wire cage ( muselet) has an alcohol content of 12 vol. % a dark brown creamy foam.
The "Bouquet" is extremely complex" ! Sherry, Madeira, vanilla, wood .... Hopjes from the Hague with a coffee flavor as a result of the roasted malt.
It's taste is oak dry, so this is a genuine Brut. The beer has been decanted in young American oak that was especially burned for this beer. Its bitterness is nicely balanced with the tannin of the wood and just a sweet zest from the alcohol. It has an unusually cork dry aftertaste.
The beer is bottle according to the so-called "original method". The yeast is removed from the bottle by shaking and disgorging.

This beer is a good example of a very well balanced beer. Big solid head. Nice fruity aroma, looks beautifully deep yellow-ish golden, Flavour is very nice for a blonde, there is a sweetnes yet bitter nor too much in either, The palate showes how well this beer is brewed, it is superbly balanced.
Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. A somewhat subtle winner: appetizingly bright aroma, great balance in the flavor profile, nice mouthfeel, and visually attractive. Very quaffable but interesting enough to sip as well.
Malmedy Bruin 7°C - 33Cl
Ref: BB24030
Head is initially large, frothy, rocky, light brown, fully lasting. Body is dark brown, dense tiny particles, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie), moderately yeasty (cobwebs, mold), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a strong note of licorice, lesser notes of clove and raisin. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Enticing spicy aroma, great flavor balance (like the Floreffe brown ales, it's almost all bitterness to counter the malt...relatively little acidity, which I like in this context), and looks terrific. Mouthfeel could be better, though. Like the Malmedy Blonde, this one is also very quaffable, yet still worthy of sipping.

Moeder Overste (Mother Superior), a beer from Flemish origin with strong character, is certainly one of the best beers of Brasserie Lefebvre.
It is served in a clean dry glass with a beautiful head of unctuous foam. Enjoy it but in moderation as Moeder Overste can be treacherous...
Brewed at high fermentation, Moeder Overste is what we call a Triple Beer.
According to your taste, drink it cool (5°C) or at a room temperature (10°C).
Its alcoholic content is 8%.
Moneuse 8°-3/4L
Ref: BB20737
A nutty amber brew named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewer's family.
This one pours a hazy amber color with small yeast particles floating thoughout. It has a white, rocky, medium sized head that lasts. The aroma is slightly sour and acidic with hints of yeast, oak, and chalk. The flavor is slightly nutty up front with some decent malt sweetness. The finish is long and sweet with lots of honey and fruit. This one is very smooth with a medium body, creamy texture, and soft carbonation. Quite an experience.
Mongozo Banana 4,5° 1/3L
Ref: BB30121
Hazy blond color. The aroma spreads around as the bottle is opened: fruity and artificial; nothing else than sweet banana. Very sweet taste, with some banana corrected by a citrus fruit acidity. Soft drink.

Ref: BB28042Z
Blond beer, refermented in bottle, from Brunehaut brewery
Hazy blond ale with a thick head. Taste and aroma are fruity and yeasty with a bitter finish. Pleasant and warming.
A hazy orange beer with a beutiful white head. The aroma is sweet spicy with notes of peach, oranges, and alcohol. The flavor is very sweet - unnaturally sweet - with notes of spices, alcohol, and peach.
Montagnarde 9°-1/3L
Ref: BB20739
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.
Museum Bier 10° - 33cl
Ref: BB28068Z
Hazy, slightly golden body with a huge, fluffy white head. A very interesting aroma that is comprised mostly of white pepper and citrus fruit. Oranges, lemons, spicy pepper, funky yeast, herbal, plant-like elements. The body is fairly light, as one might expect from a Belgian for the summer. The flavors show the sweet fruits, doughy malts, funky yeast and present alcohol component. Citric, fruity, lightly sweet, funky, satisfying to the tongue and enriching to the soul. I really wish I had a couple more of these so that I could spend more time with this gem.
Definately another good Dolle brew.
Ne Flierefluiter 8,5° - 1/3L
Ref: BB30027R
Clear yellow color, with a small head. Very small particles floating around. Sweet aroma, bit citrus and honey. Sweet taste also, dry palate. Decent beer, more between a blonde and a triple.
Newton 3,5°C - 25Cl
Ref: BB20781
Slightly cloudy yellow color. Yeasty, apple concentrate aroma. Very sweet, fake apple body, semi-tart palate. Too sweet and the concentrated apple concoction doesn't help it's cause, but the yeastiness and bottle conditioning makes this a clear winner over beers such as Niagara Apple Ale.
The Newton beer, brewed and bottled by Lefebvre brewery, is a white apple beer.
Its ingredients are apple juice, sugar, flavour, ascorbic acid and citric acid.
Nostradamus 9.5° - 1/3L
Ref: BB28192P
Sour and very malty aroma. Dark chestnut brown colour, big unstable head. Malty, slightly acidic, roasted flavour. Full-bodied and very complex. Maltiness well balanced by alcohol flavour. Very nice.
Nounnette 7.5° - 1/3L
Ref: BB28105D
Cloudy golden color; creamy head. Nice malty aroma, with some hop and spices. Very good taste, which combines the maltiness, quite sweet in the front, to the late bitterness. Aromatic and spicy. Good, as always by Abbaye des Rocs.
Hazy gold, long lasting but thin white head, moderate condition. Muted fruity malt and low yeastiness in the nose, full bodied and malty in the mouth with slight sweet yeastiness lingering through to the finish before turning dry and slightly chalky.
Oeral 6°C - 33Cl
Ref: BB22023Z
A hazy dark orange beer with an enormous white lasting head (atleast when drunk from a tulip). The aroma is rather spicy - I can't pick up that much, but yeast, corriander, and caraway. The flavor is sweet and rather complex containing notes of honey, oranges, corriander, and other for me unrecognizable spices. The end is both sweet and bitter combined with the alcohol tingling the tongue. The palate is good - especially considering it weighing in at only 6% ABV.
Oerbier 7.5°C - 33Cl
Ref: BB22021Z
Means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). At home in a copper wash kettle, by two brothers who were students at the time.
They took over an old brewery which was out of business and said: "If we don't remake the brewery alive, nobody will!". It was also a unique opportunity to create some interesting brews, so why not try it ?
Therefore we van and will do the main work ourselves and keep the scale of the brewery like it was.
Since then, the brewery and its beers have been an inspiration source for a lot of brewers.
Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special veast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best.
After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content.

Ref: BB28096Z
Aged in oak barrels, refermented in bottle.
Lightly sour and very fizzy. Slightly metallic taste that hides the 12% abv unbelievably well. Im truly impressed. Usually, the only way to hide it would be behind malty sweetness. De Dolle really delivers here if you like a sourish Belgian ale with wittish bite. Lots of yeast floating in the bottle. More of a flemish sour than any other style.
Wow what a beer! Slightly hazy copper body with a rocky off-white head. The elacing is very nice. Big cherry-oak nose. THe first taste is of the wood casks that this beer was aged in, then a more complex sour winey flavor develops. The body is medium and smooth. The finish is very dry like a red wine. Truly an outstanding beer!

Malt and raisin aroma, also some notes like strong black tea from the hops. Dark amber, lace clings to tha glas. Incredibly complex hop taste: A background bitternes like from bitter tea , accompagnied by a range of aromahops which fill the whole spectrum. Medium body, a tad watery exit, but all in all a really lovely beer.
Palm 5.0° - 33Cl - Can
Ref: BB22039
Golden bronze colour, smallish, quickly evaporating head. Aroma - plenty of hops, some malty sweetness, and something faint that reminds me of aged plastic bottles or turpentine. Well balanced between sweet and bitter flavours and palate, a good body and easy dry finish. A very drinkable Belgian ale indeed.
Perfect to enjoy very chilled on a very hot summers day. It tries to please everybody - and succeeds.

Full in body and taste, rich in aromas, the essential Speciale Belge was created by Alfred Van Roy for his ninetieth birthday under the name Royal Van Roy-ale.
The color is deep orange to copper. Small thin head however, what little bit there is has staying power to the end of the glass. The aroma is rich with roasted and caramel malts that carry into the flavor. Light mouthfeel with a crisp finish. Somewhat of a lingering roasted/caramel malt finish. Very tasty.
Passendale 6°C - 25Cl
Ref: BB24022
Gold-brown colour with shortish lasting creamy off-white head, and quite nice lacing. Slightly sour hoppy metallic malt aroma. Good carbonation helps the bitter-sweet- sour balance on the palate. Medium bodied, less sweet malt and more sharp bitter flavours. Pleasant dry bitter finish.
What's really great in this beer is it's smooth finish/palate. The beer is much like a palm, a nice amber beer. Appearance is average, not impressive. Head dies quickly. Mostly bitter, amber taste. Good!

Dark amber, clear; preposterously huge yellow-brown head, going down lacey. Vanilla, bit of chocolate malts, later more herbal, nearly piney. Dark malts prevail in the taste, but the beer is neutral rather than sweet-bitter; neither is it ale-like, like the Winterbier, despite the shared ABV. Slightly chocolatey, slightly spicey, slightly tobacco. Rather empty mouthfeel. Aftertaste is a late bittering onset, slightly hoppy in character.

Piraat 10.5°-1/3L
Ref: BB20806
Voted overall Best Amber Beer (Gold medal) in the California Microbrew Beer Festival 1995.
In the 17th and 18th century, strong ale like the Piraat was highly prized by the seafaring captains for its keeping qualities and its high and healthy food value. The daily distribution of a pint of this ale kept the pirates in good health and gave them the spirit to survive the hard life on the sea. One had no water on a ship, but wine or strong beer that could be kept for months on the sea. Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.
